Well my go to source for awesome music Rarity in Form finally joined Tumblr. He’s also a fan of fine beers as well, so he knows what’s up! Be sure to follow him if you need your earbulbs filled with awesome tunes.
Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a gas powered chainsaw? I have a lot of practicing I need to do before Memorial Day weekend.
Gov. McDonnell just signed legislation that will help craft breweries, just like RVA’s own Hardywood.
I wrote a piece on this as well at All Malt America! Can’t wait for the future future holds for craft breweries in Virginia!

This is awesome.
Recently I found out that one of my bosses has the same taste in music I do. Yesterday M83 announced that they’re playing at The National in Richmond on September 29 (my birthday weekend!), so I told my boss about that and he got super pumped and has been Youtubing M83 videos. I’m seeing M83 next weekend in DC, and after watching this video I cannot contain my excitement!
The past few weeks of my life have been super busy. Between getting a promotion at work, beer/music festivals, helping out at Hardywood as much as I can, and moving into a new apartment, I haven’t had much time to relax. With my next 2 weekends being booked with JMU’s Graduation and an M83 concert, I can say I’m really looking forward to one weekend where I can just relax.
Anywho, if you’re in the Richmond, VA area you need to get your hands on some of Hardywood’s Bourbon Cru. It was brewed like an abbey quadrupel and aged in half-decade old bourbon barrels from A. Smith Bowman Distillery from Fredericksburg. Since I was working when I had the opportunity to try this beer for the first time, I didn’t want to drink too much of it since it comes in at 10.2% ABV. But from the little bit that I did have, I can tell you this is something phenomenal. I was able to get 4 bottles total this past weekend, so I’ll hopefully have some free time in the next week or so to get my wrap my mind around it. I’ll definitely be aging the others to enjoy sometime this coming winter.

Hardywood has done extraordinary things since they opened about 7 months ago. One of their beers, the Gingerbread Stout, received a perfect 100 from BeerAdvocate Magazine. I am really looking forward to what they do in the future as they continue to expand!
Rocktown Beer and Music Festival conquered us again, but it was worth it! Great times with new and old friends.
This weekend is the Rocktown Beer and Music Festival in Harrisonburg, Virginia. This is a picture of part of our Suns Out, Guns Out crew. This year’s crew will be a lot bigger. Kind of worried about how much fun we’ll be having!
Really looking forward to the weekend, you guys.
This video is hilarious, but also hauntingly accurate of how my life has unfolded so far (except for beer bonging Bell’s Oberon, I wouldn’t waste great beer like that)!
Spent my Saturday morning at Hardywood Park in Richmond. Cleaned some kegs, hung out with some awesome people, and drank some phenomenal beers. Just volunteering there made me realize that I want to work in the craft beer industry even more.

I’m not sure if you remember, but a few weeks ago I posted about being contacted by a publisher about doing a book review on a book about the craft beer scene throughout North Carolina. Well it is finally done, and I would like to share it with you all here. Check it out over at my other blog All Malt America.
Even after being in the craft beer scene for a few years, this book was still very informative. It’s pretty cool being recognized by a stranger for something you’re passionate about, and having them ask you to help spread the word about something they’re passionate about.
Feelsgoodman.
A visit to Hardywood Brewery is, in essence, a visit to a local shrine for Richmond beer lovers. The guys at Hardywood embody all things beautiful in the world of craft beers: locally sourced, environmentally conscious, engaged in the community, and above all, high quality brewing practices. It’s a truly delicious experience.

Love Hardywood Park and what they’re doing here in Ricmond.
